This fall, the MAHS Theater Department wants to welcome you to a world of deep blue, to Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, is a mermaid with a beautiful voice and a fascination with the human world. She especially has an interest in a prince named Eric. Eric thinks Ariel’s voice is the most beautiful thing he’s ever heard, but the only thing that stands between Ariel and Eric meeting is; well, a pair of legs. The only way Ariel can meet Eric is to defy her father and go meet the sea witch, Ursula, who can trade her voice for a pair of legs. Ariel must make Eric fall in love with her within three days, or she loses her soul to Ursula forever! Good thing Ariel has help from Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to make sure she doesn’t become one of Ursula’s unfortunate souls.
This year’s cast list introduces faces of both old and new to the theater department. Ariel is played by Amaya Raths (11th grade, 1st show). Prince Eric is played by Wesley Richards (9th grade, 10th show). Sebastian is played by Jahvon Johnson (11th grade, 1st show). Flounder is played by Anna Demetriou (8th grade, 5th show). Scuttle is played by Jennie Odello (10th grade, 15th show). King Triton is played by Zach Dietz (11th grade, 5th show). Ursula is played by Greta Conroy (11th grade, 8th show).
But like all good shows, we need the people behind the scenes! Directed by Joe Ferriero and Kelly White. The assistant director is Avery Frank. The choreography is done by Tysen Daughtery, and the props are by Angela Albrecht. The set is designed by Seth Kelly, and the music is by Wanda Dagen. Vocal direction by Kali Stiles.
Performance dates are November 16th, 17th, and 18th at 7:00 p.m., with a matinee on the 18th at 1:00 p.m., which showcases a special meet and greet after the show for all the little princesses, princes, and sea creatures. More information to come. We hope to have you join us for our “Under the Sea” adventure!
