Updates about Track & Field with Coach Henrich

Spring is finally here! Time for Track & Field to start! The Boys Track & Field coach, Dale Henrich, shared some of his time to give us some exciting updates about this upcoming season. Coach Henrich is very excited to be back with the season, which will begin on Monday, March 29th.

The first question I asked Coach Henrich was if MAHS had a Track & Field season last year. His response was the following, “No, we did not have a season last year. We started off and only had one week of practice before they sent us home until further notice.” Last year, Coach Henrich would type out workouts for his athletes to complete. Due to Covid-19, they weren’t able to meet up and do regular activities together.

The next question I asked was if there are new regulations for Track and Field. Coach Henrich responded with, “Yes, here are the new regulations: they change every day. For example, they started out saying you could have two teams, and then they said you could have five teams. Now they’re going by the number of participants. And depending on that, they will continue to change the regulations throughout the season.”

Then I proceeded to ask Coach Henrich what one of his primary goals was for this Track & Field season. Coach Henrich’s primary goal is to maintain the season as normal as possible like it used to be, not last year, but like their seasons were two years ago. To finish off, here is one of Coach Henrich’s quotes that stood out to me, “My favorite day of the season is the first day; My worst day of the season is the day the season is over.”
